Modern Slavery Statement

Modern Slavery Statement for Man with Van Orpington

Man with Van Orpington is committed to conducting its business in a responsible and ethical manner. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect human rights and to identify, prevent, and address risks of exploitation associated with our services.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Man with Van Orpington provides transport, removals and related logistical services to households and businesses. Our operations are primarily based in the United Kingdom, and our supply chain includes vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packing material suppliers, and occasional subcontracted labour for specialist moving services.

While the scale of our business is modest, we understand that modern slavery can occur in any sector, including transport and logistics, especially through subcontracting, casual labour, and outsourced services. We therefore apply proportionate but robust measures to minimise these risks.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

We operate a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. This applies both within our own operations and throughout our supply chain. We are committed to working only with suppliers, contractors, and partners who share this commitment and can demonstrate compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Our zero-tolerance stance means that if any evidence of modern slavery or exploitation is identified in connection with our business, we will respond immediately. This may include suspension or termination of relationships with individuals or organisations involved, and reporting concerns to the relevant authorities where appropriate.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We expect our suppliers and subcontractors to uphold high standards of labour and human rights. Where feasible, we seek written confirmation from key suppliers that they comply with modern slavery legislation and maintain fair employment practices. We reserve the right to request further information or documentation to verify these commitments.

We carry out proportionate, risk-based checks on our suppliers. This may include reviewing publicly available information, requesting details on their own modern slavery policies and procedures, and asking about their use of subcontractors or temporary labour. For higher-risk relationships, we may conduct more detailed assessments or on-site visits where practical.

If a supplier fails to provide satisfactory assurances or is unwilling to improve practices that fall short of our standards, we will review the continuity of that relationship and may seek alternative providers.

Recruitment, Employment, and Training

Within our own operations, we strive to ensure that all individuals working for or on behalf of Man with Van Orpington are engaged voluntarily, receive fair pay, and work in safe conditions. We verify, as far as reasonably possible, that all workers have the legal right to work and are not subject to coercion, debt bondage, or exploitative recruitment fees.

We aim to raise awareness among our staff about the signs of modern slavery and how to respond to concerns. New starters are made aware of our ethical expectations, and key team members involved in procurement or subcontracting receive additional guidance on identifying and mitigating modern slavery risks.

Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing

Man with Van Orpington encourages all employees, agency staff, contractors, suppliers, and customers to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery connected to our operations or supply chain. Reports can be made to management or through any internal reporting channels communicated to staff. Concerns will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly.

We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. Where appropriate, we will liaise with law enforcement or other competent bodies to address serious allegations and protect potential victims.

Continuous Improvement and Annual Review

We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process. We are committed to continually improving our policies, due diligence, and training so that we can better identify and manage risks as our business and supply chain evolve.

This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually, or sooner if there are significant changes to our operations, supply chains, or relevant legislation. The review will consider feedback from staff, suppliers, and other stakeholders, as well as any incidents or emerging risks identified during the year. Following each review, we will update our procedures where necessary to strengthen our response.

This statement has been approved by the management of Man with Van Orpington and reflects our commitment to responsible business conduct and the protection of fundamental human rights.
